Monique Cairns is an accomplished Independent Director and Business Advisor with a strong track record in governance, strategy, stakeholder engagement and leading organisations through change. She is currently Independent Chair of 30 Seconds Group, Deputy Chair of NZ Home Loans, and an Independent Director of Harmoney and Younity, part of Ingenium Group. Monique also serves as a Trustee of the New Zealand Portrait Gallery and chairs the Art Committee at The Northern Club.

Through her advisory business, Caribou, Monique works with boards, chief executives and leadership teams to strengthen strategy, risk oversight, CEO performance frameworks and evaluations, employee engagement, customer focus and stakeholder outcomes. Her experience spans not-for-profits, start-ups, local and central government, SMEs, large corporates, privately owned businesses and listed entities, across a diverse range of sectors and operating environments.

Monique was previously a Director of Unitec New Zealand Limited, Manukau Institute of Technology Limited, DEC International, Lotto NZ and SPCA Auckland. Prior to moving into governance and consulting more than 11 years ago, Monique held senior leadership roles in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.
