Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney

At Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney, we provide a fully supported home for families with a seriously ill or injured child undergoing lifesaving treatment at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. 

This journey means travelling over 100 km and leaving behind their homes, jobs and support networks for weeks, months or even years. Staying across the road from the hospital allows parents to respond quickly to their child’s medical needs, and keeping the family together provides a vital source of comfort. 

Our essential services and holistic support help to remove financial and logistical barriers, strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare. Beyond accommodation, we provide daily meals, an on-site Learning Centre and tutoring, spaces of respite within the hospital, and Hospitality Carts that deliver comfort to the bedside. 

In 2025, we accommodated over 1,600 families but were sadly forced to turn away more than 400 families due to capacity constraints. To help meet this urgent need, in May this year we opened a new 10-room House inside The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. This facility will support approximately 1,000 families each year, particularly those requiring short-term or emergency stays where being just steps from their child’s bedside is critical.
